Cocker Spaniel Puppies

We’re looking for a few good “FUR”–ever homes!

Periodically we will have adults available for adoption. We at Stanfield Farms have a well thought out breeding program and it generally takes us years to carry out what we are trying to produce here. We do not over breed our girls and we retire them from our breeding program generally when they are less than 5 years old. If we ever have any boys ready for retirement, they are generally in this age range also. Occasionally, for various reasons, we might have a younger adult to retire. Any adult we offer has been a loved part of our family and we are wanting to find them their fur-ever home where they can live a life of comfort and be spoiled, just as they have been here.

If you are interested in a pet for your home, but just don’t want to deal with the puppy stage, one of my retired breeders or show dogs may be just the right fit for your family. When it comes time to get a pet, many people consider adopting an adult? Puppies are a lot of work, and adult dogs bond just as well as puppies. Besides, there are quite a few advantages to getting an adult dog.

  • An adult dog has an adult bladder. Puppies can only be expected to “hold it” for as many hours as they are old, plus one. Therefore, a two-month-old puppy can only be expected to hold it for three hours. You probably plan to be home for the first weekend — even a long weekend — when you bring your new family member home. But what about after that? Is there someone home during the day with your dog. If not, consider an adult dog. They can be house trained even if they’ve never been house trained before. And best of all, an adult dog can hold it until you come home.
  • An adult dog is past the puppy chewing stage. This stage, from two months to two years of age, is when much of the home destruction happens. Chewed cabinets, sofas, shoes, window sills, and clothing can cost you plenty. But an adult dog, given chew toys and bones will be occupied, is no longer in a chewing frenzy.
  • An adult dog is as big as it’s ever going to get. With puppies — especially puppies whose heritage is unknown — you never know! Many apartments have size and weight restrictions on the dogs they will allow, so if you rent, you may need to get a smaller dog. In addition, food, vet care and boarding are all more expensive for bigger dogs. If you’re sure you can’t end up with a bigger dog, get an adult.
  • Adult dogs are better able to focus, and this comes in handy during training. Although puppies can and should be trained, ask any trainer and they’ll tell you it’s often easier to train a mature dog. And don’t give in to fears that an adult won’t bond with you, or that you can’t teach an old(er) dog new tricks. Both are false! Every day is a whole new day for dogs, and the bonding that takes place during training (or retraining) is every bit as rewarding as that with a puppy. Plus, you don’t have to get up in the middle of the night for a potty run!
  • The first year is a lot less expensive with an adult dog. All those trips to the vet to give your new puppy round after round of inoculations can really add up. A healthy adult should only need to go to the vet once a year.
  • What you see is what you get. Some dogs are very active as puppies, then mellow out considerably as adults; others are very cuddly and passive as puppies, then develop the energy of a squirrel on crack cocaine as they grow. An adult dog’s baseline personality is pretty well set, and shelters are full of dogs who became the “wrong” match as they matured.
  • Instant companionship is yours when you get an adult dog. Puppies have to wait until they get their last round of shots before they should be around other dogs. They can’t run very far, and are easily knocked around by kids and other dogs. They’re uncoordinated, untrained, and must eliminate, eat and sleep often. An adult dog can go running with you today!

Our available adults are displayed below...

To maximize our opportunities to find that the perfect fit for our adoptable adults, we will often list them as available months before they are actually ready to go. We decline many more inquiries for adults than we do puppies. Adults are much more set in their ways, and we try very hard to ease their transition into a new family by waiting for the one that is the ideal fit for them. While we take great pride in helping to match the dog who is a perfect fit with your family, it is just as important to us that we find the family who is the ideal match for them to insure their future happiness.

an American Cocker Spaniel

Our apologies but we do not have any adults availble for adoption at this time. Please call or email us if you would like to be placed on a waiting list for future consideration.

All of our dogs are crate trained and well socialized and very friendly. It will however, take some time and effort on your part to get them accustomed to your procedures in your home and family. Having a crate ready for arrival will make the transition easier. Once you have decided on a particular girl or boy for adoption we can both decide if he/she will fit well into your family. We then will ask for a $100 non-refundable deposit. They are then taken to our veterinarian for a physical, spay/neuter and a teeth cleaning. It might be possible that they might need some teeth extracted and that will be added to the price of the dog. We will be updating all shots also at that time which would include rabies, especially if she /he is going on a long trip somewhere. We want to do our best to make sure you are receiving a healthy companion for a many years. All of these services may cost approximately $200—400 depending on medical factors. Usually we don’t have many at all. Most times it is much less. It is up to you to pay for these expenses to complete the adoption, minus the $100 deposit you have already paid. You will receive your new fur—friend with all their AKC papers, shots, health records, and health certificates plus a special booklet we make up just for you.

Honoring adults who have been a loving part of our family and now have a new “FUR”–ever family!

Velvet, an American Cocker Spaniel

Velvet (Black Velvet Saint Lucie) has become a companion to a lady Winter Park, Florida. We kept one of her darling babies from her last litter. Velvet was a gorgeous, gorgeous girl and I just held my breath when I saw her walking. She had the best black, shiny coat when she was allowed to grow out — very thick and oh so very pretty.

Claire, an American Cocker Spaniel

Stanfield Farms Chocolate Eclair aka Claire...
a chocolate/tan girl was the sweetest girl ever, submissive and willing to do whatever you needed her to do. She was not a strong willed girl at all. Just very pretty when in coat and so very sweet ... can't say that enough about her. Claire loved being on the lap, loved the balls — loved them with a passion! But would never fight over a ball, just wouldn’t give it back. Clair is now with her loving forever family.

Cruncher, an American Cocker Spaniel

Stanfield Farm Almondbutter Crunch aka Cruncher...
a red buff boy was the greatest house dog and sired some of the prettiest Cocker Spaniel puppies we could ask for. He was a quiet boy and just loved to play and be loved. Cruncher rode very well in the car and was always ready to go somewhere. He was very laid back and did everything so well. Cruncher was a wonderful boy who just wanted to please. We had even taken him to dog shows and crowds and nothing bothered him and he just slept through it when we were seated. Cuncher was truly a great boy and is now his loving forever family!

Gypsy, an AKC Standard Poodle

Harmony's Fortune Found aka Gypsy...
ws a very special blue girl. She had 3 litters and we kept one of her girls. Gypsy made a great momma and was a loving devoted girl who loved attention. She was high energy but would always stay at our side. Gypsy needed lots of loving — our lap was for her. She was an easy keep in the way of grooming and bathing and would let you do anything to her, a very easy and quick learner. She just wanted to be with us. Gypsy was a great gal indeed — a smaller girl (about 22" at the shoulder) but strong. She is now with her loving forever family.

Hershey, an American Cocker Spaniel

Stanfield Farms Hershey Kisses aka Hershey...
was our lovely chocolate lady who was shown briefly in her earlier years. We opted to not show her anymore as we were showing a few others at the same time. So Hershey did us proud in the nursery instead. She had her last litter of 7 wonderful babies; we kept one of them. Hershey was a real joy to live with as all our children live in our home and sit on our couch. Our dogs live with us completely. Hershey loved people and does well with travel and is now with her loving forever family.

Lucy, an American Cocker Spaniel

Stanfield Farms Praline N Cream aka Lucy...
was a spunky buff girl. She had 3 litters. Lucy loved food more than life so we had to be careful. She had a tendency to gain weight due to this — never missed a meal in her life. Lucy loved playing ball and would sit endlessly on our lap for a good belly rub or giving us kisses. She loved going anywhere with us. Lucy was a joy to live with and always ready to go ... loved life to the fullest. She is now with her loving forever family.

Simone, an AKC Standard Poodle

Stanfield Farms Simone aka Simone...
was a very large apricot girl. She was a bigger girl (about 25" at the shoulder), very strong and would do whatever was asked of her. Simone was a great traveler and did very well on the leash. She was used to being in a fenced in yard to go potty. Simone could jump a fence of 5´, so we had to extend our fence because she could clear it. Simone didn’t run away but saw something that interested her and went after it. Remember, Standard Poodles were bred as hunters and absolutely make the best swimmers and hunters for a man’s dog. Simone is definitely one of those great retrievers and is with her loving forever family.
